Maxi dresses are ideal for cold weather because they can be layered in so may different ways. The best part about it is that you can cheat and wear thick tights or even leggings to stay toasty. Here I layered this look with a sweater and vest as one variation.

So while I was taking photos for the blog, I had these two cuties watch me closely. They stayed still long enough for me to snap this picture. I guess they wanted to show off their fierce modeling skills too!

It's key to stay warm as the winter will soon be on the way out. In the meantime, most of us have to still bundle up! This look is one of my favorites, mostly because it's so comfortable. Of course my little robot necklace is adorable enough I had to get a close up. She is so cute I call her Suzie. Hey if people can name cars, fashion can be treated the same way!
Just playing around with different ways to wear my favorite color. This is one of my favorite pairs of pants. I usually wear them with heels for an added effect.

|| Dress: Plenty by Tracy Reese & Earrings (I bought them both through Modcloth) || Necklace: Vintage || Suede Pumps: Jessica Simpson
I have been dying to photograph this dress! I bought it as a gift to myself over the holidays, (hey a girl has to do that every now and then), and it finally got warm enough for me to twirl around in it outside.
I thought it would be fun to rock an outfit that is V-day ready! This romper by Royal Love, (that's really the name), is covered in a red and gray heart pattern and came with the gold and black belt. Dressing in all black keeps all the attention on the heart of the outfit.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Mariah Carey has recently come out with a line of nail polish through O.P.I. Part of the line contains typical polish, but also four shades that have a special touch to them. These four dry with a sandy texture to them. The effect is called Liquid Sand. Since this was something different I'd been wanting to give them a try. There is a four-pack sampler of the sand colors so you can decide which one looks best.
Off hand, all of the colors have a glittery appearance. But it's how you apply the polish that makes a difference. Here is what you need:
Base coat
Liquid Sand Nail Polish
You start with polish free nails. The directions state to apply two layers of base coat to the nails followed by two layers of the Liquid Sand. When it paints on, it looks exactly like regular polish.
Note: The directions also state to NOT put on a topcoat. The result looks and feels just like sand. The polish has a matte finish to it, despite having the glitter, but it still shines bright. After letting the colors dry, I based my top choice on the overall final look.
The winner: "Get Your Number" (Blue), The Runner-Up: "The Impossible" (Pink)
Now I some of you that know me would think I picked the blue because it is close to my favorite color, but it honestly looked the best and didn't lose much of its luster after drying. The pink did come in a close second. "Can't Let Go" (Purple) was next. Although it was a pretty shade, once it dried, it lost much of its sparkle. "Stay the Night" (Burgundy/black with pink glitter) was at the bottom for me mainly because it was difficult for me to pin down what the main color actually was. It also had the least amount of shine, (except the pink glitter) and was very matte when dried.
From L to R: || "The Impossible" || "Can't Let Go" || "Get Your Number" ||
So as you can see close up it does have a textured look and when dry, it does feel like like sand on your nails. Overall I like the polishes and will continue to use them! I'd love to hear which colors you like!
So yesterday, designer Prabal Gurung's collection for Target hit the stores. I was excited to go check out the pieces with a few in mind I wanted to purchase. Unable to get there right as they opened, by the time I got there, (about 10 AM), there were some people that had picked through some of the collection. Quite a bit of it was still there, but of course in my area there are about 5 - 6 Targets to choose from so I figured the crowds would be spread out. Out of my shopping expedition I came out with a very stylish sleeveless blouse. (I love that the print is on both the front and the back!) As things mellow out I'll continue to check out more of the line, but for now I begin with this...
|| Prabal
Gurung For Target® Sleeveless Blouse in First Date Print || Skirt: H&M || Jeffrey Campbell Soiree Heels || Glass earrings and necklace ||
|| Turquoise Skinny Jeans: Truck Jeans || Cut-Out Oxfords: Aldo || Purse: Betsey Johnson ||
(This is one of my favorite rings in my possession!)
|| Twisted Black & Teal Wire Ring: Found at a festival ||
It had unfortunately been a while since I'd taken a trip to the mall been and it was long over due. Below are my finds from my past couple of shopping trips! Details below...
Trip 1: Fab Finds
|| Chambray Romper: Delia*s || Key Necklace & Triangle Studs: Forever 21 || Sparkle Tights, Ring, Bracelet, Hat, Black Peter Pan Beaded Shirt & Lavender Clutch: H&M ||
The romper and lavender clutch were actually on clearance! I love finding items that are steals and still very in style! In fact, I saw a similar clutch on the Urban Outfitters website that just arrived with the spring styles!
Trip 2: Seek and You Shall Find
|| Denim Shirt, Leopard Button-Up, Jeweled Cat Top: H&M || White Stripe top: GAP || Galaxy Leggings: Forever 21 ||
For this particular shopping trip, (not on the same day as the 1st), I took my time and focused on pieces that ether stood out to me or that I had been looking for. The denim blouse and galaxy leggings were something I'd been after for a while - I saw some in my travels, but they didn't work for me. The rest...well they stood out to me.
|| All jewelry: Forever 21||
This was truly the steal of the day! The Galaxy Leggings and jewelry were bought at the same time. The total cost of the jewelry was still less the price of the leggings. Sometimes it's really good to wait, (if you can), and keep watch on your favorite items. You never know when they will go on sale or clearance!
So I recently picked up the latest palette from Urban Decay based on the upcoming movie "Oz The Great and Powerful". You can choose between Glinda (the palette is a lot brighter) and Theodora. I am in love with the Theodora palette because the shades are very earthy and flow well with my complexion. Even the red high-gloss lip color is great fit and compliments the rest of the shadows. During my shopping trip I also picked up a roller ball perfume of Betsey Johnson's "Too Too Pretty". The fragrance itself reminds me a bit of Lady Gaga's black fragrance, "The Fame" (which is one of my top fragrance picks).
Shades from top left: Broken, Beware, Bewitch || From bottom left: West, Spell, Jealous || Eyeliner: Black 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil || Super-saturated high-gloss lip color in Theodora

The back of the card shows you how to achieve Mila Kunis' makeup so you can embrace Theodora's look.
