Pleather skirts are still very hot for spring and I finally got around to making my own. It's a pleated pleather skirt, simple, but chic. I paired it here with a very artsy shirt to give it a very "artsy punk" feel to it. The shoes are the icing on the cake. The earring clip adds a little sparkle and toughness.

Here is a close up of the earring...and of course it had to be a butterfly!
Teal has become a very popular color in the past few years which is good because it is a lot easier to find things my favorite color - it will never go out of style for me. So when I found this silk top at JC Penneys, it was an impulse by, but I'm glad I did. It can be dressed up or down and it is very lightweight and the addition of the two colors adds an extra punch.

I have found that JC Penney's has really re-done their store as far as what they carry and their price points. I recommend if you haven't checked it out to give it a go! They have really good prices on staple items and not to mention, they have lots of Betseyville products (which I love!)
As Spring inches in, (it's still kind of chilly where I am), I look to find easy outfits to throw on while I'm running errands. I tend to lean to skirts in the spring more than pants and the warmer weather warrants showing just a little bit of leg.

(And my butterfly tattoo - another perk of warmer weather, it gets to be seen)
So in trying to figure out ways to wear my anorak, I searched high and low in my closet to find creative ways to combine different colors. This is one of the looks I came up with. This is very suitable for any fashionista for work or when you just want to be fierce!

Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer
By B.Nova - Wednesday, March 20, 2013
I'd been hearing Carol's Daughter has some decent hair care products so I decided to pick a product that could help keep my hair healthy. I already have my usual routine, but when I saw that this product was good for sealing split ends, I jumped at the chance to try it.
So the bottle is pretty small, it's actually smaller than a deodorant bottle. It's a cream, that feels lightweight and smells sweet, but earthy. (As you can see I played around with the photo styling of these pictures, giving them a very natural feel.)
I noticed a slight change in the texture of my hair. This product gave my hair softer feel, and added a little more shine to it. One pump per use is usually enough, but sometimes after washing and drying my hair, I may use 2 pumps. I did notice a reduction in the amount of split ends my hair had and in combination with my other hair care products, my hair feels very healthy. But of course what works for me may not work for others, but doing my research, most people are happy with it.
All in all it's a great product, but there is a downside. I really wish the bottle was bigger because this little thing is $25 per bottle. (Yeah it's truly an investment). But I think the most important thing is that my hair responds well to it so I'll continue to use what I have until it runs out. I'm not sure if I'll buy any when it's empty unless I notice a significant change in my hair.
So since posting my other Prabal Gurung for Target top, I eventually hunted down the sweatshirt (which was at the top of my list when this collection came out). It's a very stylish, but relaxed outfit that is versatile.

Spring is officially right around the corner, but this past Saturday you would have thought it was already here. With highs in the mid 70s, it was a great day to be taking pictures! I snapped a picture of a tree with blossoms already on it, careful not to get too close because pollen is not my friend.

The Magnolia Betty Tree...
I guess some of nature is ready for warmer weather too!

So I recently ordered a few things from both Nasty Gal and Zara. I'd purchased from NG before, but this was my first from Zara. Since I bought they arrived about the same time, I thought it would be cool to do this haul together.
The packages...(the Zara box came inside a shipping box, but this one looks better ;0) )
The contents inside...
Both shipments arrived incredibly fast and undamaged. The Zara box gave me a really cool fact inside.
So what's the final look? Check it out below...

One hot trend for this season are tiger printed shirts. They are also my favorite animal. When I saw the shirt online, I fell in love with the shirt because it's very artistic looking up close, like it was sketched. I'd been keeping my eye on the anorak and then it went on sale and I couldn't say no. This outfit is great for a day of shopping or going to a casual lunch.
All in all, I am very satisfied with my purchases and will order from them both again!

As spring gets closer and closer, it puts me in the mood for more floral prints. I fell in love with these MinkPink floral pants I bought from Modcloth. The bright colors are a great combination and they are extremely comfortable!

So I was very surprised to find a package a few weeks ago in my mailbox. Especially since it was unexpected! When I pulled it out I noticed that it was from Vogue! I had signed up to be a "Vogue Insider" the latter part of last year, and now this came!
This is what was inside! They sent me a sample of Loreal's Revitalift Miracle Blur. It's an instant skin smoother and sunscreen! You can either wear it alone or wear it under foundation. The cream states that it provides a smoother application, making your skin look even.
I have tried it because it is always important to wear some type of protection on your skin everyday. I have another moisturizer that I use, but decided to give this one a try. I don' usually wear a lot of makeup on my face, (like foundations and concealers), but I still put at least a basic moisturizer on my skin. So far it seems to be working. The cream is a soft buttercream color and smell a bit like sunscreen, (it has an SPF of 30), although it is not too strong.
Verdict: I'll continue to use it as a sunscreen when it gets hotter and when I intend to be out in the sun for long periods of time because of the SPF, but will use my other moisturizer on a daily basis.

So it's been a while since I've post food here, (I post much of it on Instagram), but I'm excited to do this post, especially since it is very, very yummy! So I wanted to put a spin on basic oatmeal cookies. They are one of favorites, but sometimes I want to make subtle changes that enhance the flavor. Don't get me wrong I love eating them plain, but when I added the apples to the mix, it made them out of this world!
Here is what you need:
This is one of my favorite cookie mixes! I usually go from scratch, but sometimes the time just doesn't work out!
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, (you may have to adjust it depending on where you live). Cut up the apples into a fine dice. If needed, you can squeeze a little bit of lemon on the apples to keep them from browning too quickly, but it's not necessary.
2. If using the package mix, dump it in the bowl and following the instructions on the pack, adding the butter and egg. Mix the batter until it is moistened. Add in the apples and stir until the apples are well incorporated.
3. Place the cookies on a lined baking sheet. (I use parchment paper for all my cookie endeavors!) Bake the cookies in the oven just as it instructs on the package. These cookies spread s give them some baking space! I prefer a softer cookie so I bake it at about 8 - 9 minutes, the lowest recommended baking time. The apples will also keep them soft and very moist!
4. Take the cookies out and let them rest for a minute or two. I know it will be tempting to taste, but it's good to let them cool.
5. Finally! Savour the wonderful creation you just made! Look at all of those nooks and crannies!
Here is what you need:
- 1 package of Oatmeal Cookie Mix (Or you can make it from scratch)
- 1 - 2 apples (This time I used Honeycrisp apples, but any apples you like would work)
- 1 stick of butter (In this particular Cookie Mix, I have also used Earth Balance Buttery Spread Sticks - it's Vegan but the cookies are just as amazing. In fact, they is not much difference in flavor!)
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp Water
- Parchment Paper (This is found on the same isle as aluminum foil)
- Baking Sheet

Enjoy!
Not too long ago I went to see a band that I really like. Considering that it was a very cold night I made sure I looked cute, but also stayed warm. It turned out to be an amazing night!

Since it's Sunday, I thought I do a very relaxed outfit today. Although being fashionable and fierce is a must, sometimes it can be without heels and completely casual. Once again my wide leg pant never let me down!

Casual style can be comfortable, but also unique. Sometimes it pays to play it up to bring new life to your look. Here instead of the traditional sweatshirt and jeans, I added pleather shorts and tights plus some wedge sneakers that are extremely easy to be in for long periods of time. (FYI: The majority of the outfit is from Target.)

I meant to post this back when I did part one, but while I was still figuring out how to use Blogger, it didn't work out (oops!), but here it is anyway. So as promised I'm going to show you all of the Turkey Day festivities!
From the home where some of my family grew up to all of the lip-smacking food, here is a glimpse of my Thanksgiving! The saddest part about it, (for all the dairy-eating folks), being lactose intolerant, I couldn't eat some of it, but I did still eat quite a bit!

Just when I thought the food train was over, the next day we had a chicken and fish fry. My uncle even made some of his seafood pasta salad (so yummy!). There was still so much amazing food and the best part of all, I had the chance to meet family I'd never met before.
It's my first Saturday post and I joined in the Velvet Army! These fierce velveteen high-waisted pants were designed and made by yours truly. I love wide leg pants so I thought it would be fun to make these.

Since black & white is huge for spring, I thought I'd play it up with by adding my favorite color to the mix. There are so many ways you can work these two colors and use it to define your own style. This will not be the only way I rock this! Stay tuned for more posts on ways to wear black & white. (There may even be a D.I.Y.!)
