Earlier this month as a birthday present to myself I went to the Carnival of Madness concert featuring We As Human, In This Moment, Skillet, Papa Roach and Shinedown. I can say it was a truly memorable experience. The down and upside to it was that it rained like crazy and I got completely soaked! The other downside was that we had two severe thunderstorm warnings and a flash flood warning and they had to pause the concert after Papa Roach - it was just that bad.

Since the Shinedown was postponed I actually ended up leaving before they hit the stage. I was starting to get the sniffles and it was only a matter of time before I'd start getting sick. I did really want to see them, but maybe another time.

I was up on the front row in the pit area so I got to see everything up close and it was great! I met some really nice people there and had some great conversation with a couple that was standing next to me.

This outfit is inspired by the experience. I bought a Skillet right before I left and it fits right into my wardrobe. Below the fashion are some photos I took with my iPhone 5 before the weather got to o bad.













My favorite part of the concert happened earlier in the day. I had the opportunity to meet and greet with Skillet! I love being able to meet bands and walk away still loving them because they are very kind and very silly.

As much as I would like it to be more Fall-ish where I am, right now I'll have to be happy with the weather still in the 70s and 80s. So I'll embrace my so far warm Fall and sneak in a few more summer inspired looks.

This look is fun and plays a little with color. I love to mix and match and have fun with things not being too matchy matchy. The purple seems to balance the neon but still has an edge.

Fall is here and it is time to start transition some of my summer pieces to cooler weather. Even though it will be awhile before it gets chilly where I am, it doesn't mean that I can't get started in playing up my fall wardrobe. I absolutely love the short and long overalls, so here is an outfit dedicated to the shorts.

So I couldn't decided which look I liked more. Even thought the subtle difference lies in the shoes, sometimes the little things make a difference.

Happy first full day of Fall! So as you all can tell I've been busy over the weekend since I hadn't posted anything recently. Have no fear, I was just celebrating my birthday the ENTIRE weekend, (even though my birthday was Friday). Here are some highlights of the what I did!




I decided to do my nails. The nail polish was a gift from my mom, but the rest was all me. Props to those that are true nail artist because this takes work!

And there is my tattoo. I actually did this on my birthday after having lunch with my friend. It hurt of course but now I barely feel it. Since it's on my right arm, it only stings if I bend too quickly, but my tattoo artist Jason Hassel did such an amazing job!

No matter what they say, you can be comfortable in heels, especially platforms! I love this look because it's no fuss, fashionable, and I'm rocking shoes knowing that my feet won't kill me later! Despite them being a total of 9 inches tall, they are one of my go-to shoes for sky high fun.

Most of the time when I make a mad dash to the fabric store (or any store), I like to dress very casual, especially if I'm only running out for a couple of things. When I am this basic, I love wearing a scarf that makes the outfit pop! Sometimes it's okay to look stylish without all the fuss.

I am all about sweater weather and I can hardly wait until it gets chilly enough to start wearing them. (Where I am the average temperature is still 80-90 degrees). Since leopard print is hot for the fall rocking this sweater makes complete sense. When it came to the "high-low" trend, (which is starting to run its course), sometimes it was tricky finding a decent shirt or sweater that wasn't too high in the front and too low in the back. Well, I have been fortunate so far in finding the right fit for my shape. The cool thing about this trend was that it worked well with my sort torso. So it doesn't really look any different on me than a normal sweater would...until I lift up my arms...

This look is inspired by two things. The first is the sapphire trend for fall. Not only is it an amazing color but it is my birthstone! The second is based on the leggings. I saw an artist earlier this year and she was wearing these exact leggings. From the moment I saw them I loved them and when I hunted them down, it was truly a happy day. (Her last name is Scabbia so that is where the "Scabb" comes from).

The really neat thing about these leggings, besides the cool spikes on each side of the leg, are the hidden pockets. Leggings have been reinvented in many different ways since they returned to the fashion radar, but these are the only ones that I have seen and own that have working pockets. I've lucked up and found a pair of jeggings that have this, but most don't, they just have a faux pocket.



 

I love rings! They are one of the coolest accessories that add flare to any outfit and sometimes they steal the show! My preference is silver when it comes to jewelry, but gold sneaks in there every now and then!

I really love these rings because they stand out without much effort! They all amazing. I can't wait to share more of my collection with you. Sometimes I wear just one and there are times when I throw all of them on!

Seeing this in grocery store, I'd been wanting this to give it a try. Already being crazy in love with the Raspberry Lemonade for drinks and smoothies, I knew this had to be a great combination because sometimes I add blueberries, so this would save me an extra step when I don't have blueberries on hand.

This smoothie is really simple. I start out with little bit of crushed ice and I used my frozen fruit mix with strawberries, mango, pineapple and peaches. I add a little bit of sugar and a blast packet from Planet Smoothie for additional healthy goodness. My Blueberry Lemonade is my liquid. I blend until it's the consistency I like and then I have me a delicious smoothie.

I didn't really measure this one out because I have to make my smoothie based on the cup I mix it in, but I guarantee you can't mess this one up!

American Apparel Disco Pants are some of the most comfortable pants I own. They are lightweight and universal. I love them so much I decided to buy another pair. For the longest time I had a purple pair (Imperial Purple to be exact), but I'd been dying to get a black pair. They are chic and being able to dress these both up and down helps make them more wearable.

This outfit I decided to dress them down, but it doesn't make them any less amazing. Pairing them with a plaid shirt and a beanie this outfit is very casual cool.

I've been loving my overalls and continue to find ways to wear them. As the cooler weather continues to slowly creep in, I'm starting to pull out my light sweaters. Where I live it's still anywhere from 80-90 degrees so it will be awhile until I can really let my fall colors show. I've been able to sneak in a few pictures with some of my sweaters and I hope that I can continue to embrace my fall style.

My favorite animal is the tiger and in the past year it has been a huge trend. Although I haven't really loaded up my closet with it, I still wanted to get a sweater and just my luck I found this one!

I love to wear headbands and I remember when the bra strap looking headbands were in. I loved them because they are fairly thin and made my hair look chic. In more recent years, the flat elastic headbands and hair ties have become an essential. If you are look for a simple way to recreating one of these, see how I made one in less than 5 minutes, for less than $5.00!



So the first thing is to find an elastic piece in the store and measure some of it around your head, leaving a couple inches extra. Because it is elastic, make sure that where ever you get it from that it is secured with tape on both ends - it will ravel if it stays uncovered. It's usually measured by the yard and this trim I used was about $5/yd. Since I didn't need anywhere near than my total cost for this ended up being about $2 - what a steal!








 So this is the trim. Isn't it so stylish! I was so excited when I have found this you have no idea!
