Wow two posts this week! I'm on a roll!
Recently I went to Fresh Market, (a grocery store). to do some grocery shopping and stumbled across this recipe for an apple tart. I am an apple girl all the way and every year around mid to end September the Honeycrisp apple is in season. If you have seen my Instagram, you've seen the softball size apple. I love them and if I'm not mistaken the normal size ones are used in making candy apples - that's what it tastes like anyway.
So they had this recipe that caught my eye because it was simple with maximum flavor. The end result turned out so delicious I had to share pictures. The only differences for my version were I accidentally cut the puff pastry into 9 pieces instead of 6 and I used a Sweet Tango apple along with the Honeycrisp. Instead of drizzling caramel sauce on it, I melted some of the Pillsbury Caramel Apple Frosting and drizzled it over the tarts - I was not up for making homemade caramel sauce.
This was my first time working with puff pastry. It wasn't so bad. I wouldn't mind cooking with it again. The flakiness is just right and apples cook enough to hold their shape, but melt in your mouth as you sink your teeth into them.
You can find the original recipe here.
