Delain is one of my favorite symphonic metal bands. I have been listening to them for the past few years and they have become a mainstay in my music. April Rain was the first album that I heard from them and have been hooked ever since. Their sound is unique and have, like many great bands, evolved with their sound.
When it comes to great music, for me, I always have to check to see if there is a vinyl release. The best music always sounds so much better pressed on vinyl. It becomes a listening experience. For this particular release, I saw the videos for "Masters of Destiny" and "Burning Bridges" a few months before the entire album came out and knew based on those two songs alone I'd be buying it on vinyl.
With it being a female-fronted metal band, I can say the musicality and the vocals are well-balanced on this album , one never overshadows the other. I really wish were in a time where vinyl was the main format of music. I like being able to have digital music, including this one, to take with me wherever, but there is something about physically playing music that takes it to a whole other level.
Plus, in these times, it is nice to have music that inspires creativity. I tend to listen to Delain when I'm working on art or sewing or even cooking.
(I always love when bands include the lyrics to their songs!)
After listening to the entire album, it all sounds amazing. There is a nice cohesion and flow with the album. "Chemical Redemption" has become my favorite song, (for now), but I know this is one album I will not be skipping through.
Other albums to check out from them: Lucidity, April Rain, The Human Contradiction - everything, just check out everything from them. It's all amazing!
Until Next Time!
